Alex MacDowall will start from 3rd on the grid in the first of tomorrow's MSA British Touring Car Championship races at Silverstone, with team-mate, Jason Plato, right behind in 4th.
Despite the earlier drizzle, the Silverline Chevrolet duo were 'best of the rest' with Chilton taking pole on a 59.659s lap and fellow Aon-Ford driver, Tom Onslow-Cole locking out the first row just 0.222s behind.
In third, Alex set a best time of 1:00.354s and Jason, still fat with success ballast, took a strong 4th place on 1:00.491s and crucially, qualifies ahead of championship rival, Matt Neal.
The first race of the day will start at 11:45 and will be aired live on ITV4, along with all the other on-track, and in-air, action taking place throughout the weekend.
