RML is no stranger to the British Touring Car Championship, with 2010 marking their eleventh year in the UK's favourite National series.
Following an enviable record of winning results in the Drivers', Manufacturers' and Teams' championships whilst running works cars for Vauxhall and Nissan during the mid-to-late 90s, RML later returned to the series with its 2004 contender, the SEAT Toledo. Taking nine race victories that year, RML firmly planted themselves on the map for motorsport engineering expertise. 2004 also marked the year RML would enter it's long-standing partnership with Chevrolet Europe, preparing to enter the new FIA World Touring Car Championship which started in 2005.
After a four-year sabbatical in which RML continued with various automotive and design projects alongside it's LMS and WTCC outfits, the company dramatically returned to the BTCC in a late deal to run Jason Plato and Mat Jackson in the Independents' category with the WTCC-retired Chevolet Lacetti. The team took a total of 11 victories and reached several key milestones - RML's 100th race win (scored by Mat Jackson in Knockhill), the first ever Chevrolet 1-2-3 (at Silverstone) with the addition of series newcomer, James Nash, in a third car and three out of three race wins for Jason Plato at the Brands Hatch season finale.
Just five points prevented Jason from winning the Drivers' championship in 2009.
In 2010 a move to the RML Chevrolet Cruze and backing from Chevrolet UK & Silverline resulted in Jason Plato taking the Drivers Championship for the team. Jason was joined at the team by BTCC novice Alex MacDowall, who made record book history for becoming the youngest ever driver to take pole outright in the BTCC.
RML, Chevrolet UK & Silverline return in 2011 with the same driver line up and are together targeting 2011 championship victory.
