
Since August 2004, RML have proudly run the Chevrolet World Touring Car programme for Chevrolet Europe, managing in-house design, build and development of both the Lacetti and it's successor, the Cruze.
The Chevrolet Cruze
In only it's second year of WTCC, the Chevrolet Cruze dominated the Championship. After fillimg all three podium places at the season opener in Curtiba, the RML Cruze went on to secure the Teams, Manufacturers and Drivers Championships, with Yvan Muller taking the crown.
RML and Chevrolet are aiming to retain their crowns in 2011, with a 1.6l turbo engine, designed entirely in house by RML Engines.
The success of the Cruze has led to it being campained by several privateer teams accross the globe, with a full support program managed by RML.
The Chevrolet Lacetti
The 2007 season was record-breaking for long term partners, RML and Chevrolet, with seven wins shared between Alain Menu (five), Rob Huff (1) and Rickard Rydell (1), five pole positions for Alain Menu, who also led the most laps over the course of the season (64).
Over its four-year career , the Chevrolet Lacetti scored 14 wins, 37 podium finishes and a total of 652 points towards the Manufacturers' Championship. Of these 14 wins, two were triple victories where Chevrolet wiped out the podium. Eight pole positions and nine fastest race laps complete the impressive statistics for Chevrolet in the FIA WTCC.
Outside of the WTCC, the Chevrolet Lacetti also won the 2008 FIA European Touring Car Cup, the 2006 German Touring Car Championship, and the 2008 Danish Touring Car Championship in the Teams standings. Other than regular team drivers Alain Menu, Rob Huff and Nicola Larini, Chevrolet Lacettis were also successfully driven by Rickard Rydell, Max Orido, Michael Nykjaer, Vincent Radermecker, Michael Outzen, Henrik Lundgaard, Maria De Villota, Tomas Schie, Rainer Bastuck, Harry Vaulkhard and Matt Allison. The cars remain competitive in the hands of customers across Europe and Asia.
